The Daughters of Jesus the Good Shepherd is a Congregation that is dedicated to serving the families in particular parenting.The institute of the Daughters of Jesus the Good Shepherd (D.O.J.G.S) was founded by His Grace Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo, former Archbishop of Lusaka, in November 1986 in Rome, Italy. In the year 1993, the Congregation moved to Kenya and started working at St. Teresa Parish Karaba in Muranga Diocese. It is there that the house of formation and Novitiate was eventually built and began to function. Daughters have been active ever since in the diocese, spread to other parishes and even to the neighboring Archdiocese of Nairobi. Later on, the Congregation started working in Kitui Diocese with the aim of giving a strong formation on human ,spiritual and academic to the pupils and eventually reach out to their families. It is in Kitui Diocese that the Generalate community was established. We give special care to children from vulnerable families and mal- functional families who are guided or linked with experts depending on the challenge. We have also established a linkage collaboration with other actors like hospitals, professional counsellors, Children’s officers, the church and other government line ministries.

Our specific method of evangelisation is “Family Apostolate”. Through this apostolate we witness to the people the Jesus who is alive and real among them. We are thus able to reach many people,not only Catholics, but also those of other denominations and religions. Our apostolate calls us to work in collaboration with the diocese and other people of good will in addressing family issues.
